Bristol City boss Lee Johnson has admitted that he is still in the transfer market heading into the final days of the summer window, with the 36-year-old eyeing up a new striker ahead of a gruelling run of games heading into the new year.

The young manager is keen to bring in one more forward man to assist the likes of Bobby Reid and Famara Diedhiou, who have had a lot of faith and expectation thrust upon them in the opening weeks of the new season.

Johnson brought in Cauley Woodrow from Fulham to ease the burden, but one more man is needed, and with a loan deal the most feasible for Johnson to pull off, a swoop for Burnley’s Dan Agyei could prove to be a shrewd move.

The 20-year-old joined the Clarets from boyhood club AFC Wimbledon in 2015, and has gone on to make three league appearances for the club.

Spending last season on loan in League One with Coventry, Agyei scored 4 in 16 outings, and has progressed as a player having spent the pre season training with the first team at Turf Moor.

Held in high regard by manager Sean Dyche, the former Watford boss may be keen to expose the youngster to first team action, and a switch to the Robins could be the perfect move.

City nurtured Tammy Abraham perfectly last season, with the Chelsea striker now leading the line at Premier League Swansea.

Agyei could flourish under Johnson at Ashton Gate, and although the youngster would not be considered a first team starter yet, he certainly has the potential to grow, and have an impact at the club.

Johnson is looking for strength in depth throughout his squad, and if he can pull off a deal for the player, then he will have added another solid options to his attacking options.
