Bristol City took to Instagram today to congratulate goalkeeper Dan Bentley on making over 300 career appearances.

Bentley, 26, signed for Bristol City from Brentford in the summer, where he'd spent three seasons at their number one in the Championship.

Lee Johnson was keen to bring the stopper to Ashton Gate for this season and he's played every league game so far, keeping four clean sheets.

Bristol is Bentley's third club. He was a product of the Arsenal youth academy but was released at an early age, and signed up with Southend United.

He went on to make over 150 appearances for the Shrimpers over five seasons, before leaving to join Brentford in 2016.

With 125 league appearances from his time with Brentford, Bentley now has over 300 league appearances to his name at 26-years-old, and Bristol City posted this message to congratulate him:

Bristol's last game away at Cardiff saw them take all three points in the Severnside derby, and Bentley keep his first away clean sheet of the season in a 1-0 win.

The verdict

Bentley has proved a shrewd signing by Johnson this season, and looks like he could be the Robins' number one for a long time to come.

He's made some excellent saves in goal this season but his clean sheets tally isn't what he'd have wanted it to be. Bristol have had some defensive issues this year but still find themselves in 6th for this international break.

They resume their Championship campaign with the visit of Nottingham Forest next week, and Bentley will be expecting a busy afternoon in another tough Championship clash.
