Bristol City set to part ways with defensive duo in January

Bristol City have told Joel Ekstrand that he can leave the club this January, according to a report by the Bristol Post.

The Swedish defender was looking to reignite his career at Bristol City after injury woes hampered his progress at Watford but it has been the same story at Ashton Gate.

Ekstrand penned a one year deal with the Championship outfit back in September after a successful trial period at the club but he has only managed two appearances all season for the Robins.

The 27-year-old last featured in a game against Derby in mid-September and his time in Bristol has been riddled with injury.

Lee Johnson admitted that a fully fit Joel Ekstrand would have been a superb addition but he is free to find another club to kick-start his career again.

In other news, young defender Taylor Moore has been told he can leave the club on loan in January with a number of League One and League Two clubs interested in the 19-year-old.

Bristol City fans – what do you make of this news? Would you have given Ekstrand more time? Does Moore need a spell on loan? Who can you bring in if funds are freed up? Let us know in the comments below…
