Bristol City are set for disappointment in their pursuit of Chelsea striker Martell Taylor-Crossdale, with the youngster set to sign for German side Hoffenheim.

The Bristol Post are reporting that the youngster is set to agree terms with the Bundesliga outfit, with a medical scheduled to take place on Monday.

The Robins were previously credited with an interest in the 19-year-old as Lee Johnson looked to strengthen his attacking options ahead of next season, but the youngster looks to have made his mind up and is set to make the move overseas.

Taylor-Crossdale has been in fine form the Chelsea youth teams and is already known within the international set up with England. He will have no doubt seen the success the likes of Jadon Sancho and Reiss Nelson have had in Germany, and will be hoping to achieve similar himself.

Lee Johnson on the other hand would have been hoping to land the starlet in the hope he could emulate former Chelsea loanee Tammy Abraham's spell at Ashton Gate a few seasons back, when the young England striker smashed in some 25 goals for the club.

The Verdict

It's hard to say if this is a massive blow as such for Bristol, but it does mean Johnson needs to move on to other targets now.

You can't blame the player though for fancying a move to Germany. We have seen so many have success over there in recent times and there's every chance Taylor-Crossdale can do the same.
