Bristol City have moved quickly in their search to find Aden Flint's replacement and they are on the verge of sealing a move for Adam Webster, according to Sky Sports News.

Ipswich Town defender Webster is set for a £5m switch to Bristol City to fill the boots of Aden Flint, who yesterday was confirmed as a Middlesbrough player.

Reliable football journalist Pete O'Rourke has confirmed that Webster has passed his medical at Bristol City and he is set to complete his move imminently.

The 23-year-old joined Ipswich two years ago from Portsmouth and has played 53 times for the club.

Injuries have hampered his progress, though, and with the young centre-half entering the final year of his contract at Portman Road, Ipswich have decided to let him leave.

Standing at 6ft 3in tall, the former England under-19 international is a physical centre-half who is good in the air and with the ball on the ground.

The Verdict

If Webster can steer clear of injuries, then Bristol City have a very good deal on paper here.

By selling Flint for £7m, they have made a profit and brought in a much younger replacement who could potentially become one of the best defenders in the division in the next couple of years.

The former Pompey centre-half is already solid and reliable; he just needs some luck with his fitness to push on.
