Bristol City sack manager Steve Cotterill after dismal run of form

Championship side Bristol City have sacked their manager Steve Cotterill, the club have confirmed.

Steve Cotterill

The 51-year-old was appointed as the City manager in December 2013 and led his side to the League One title the year, in what was a fantastic season for the Robins.

The manager has now been sacked this by the Bristol board, as the club sit 22nd in the Championship table and have lost three games on the bounce, with one win in the last 10 games.

His last game came against fellow strugglers Preston North End, where his side dominated the fixture totally, especially in possession and in shots, nine shots with five on target .

The board clearly feel the club’s performance has not been good enough – and will subsequently begin the search for a new manager who they believe will keep the side in the Championship.

Bristol fans… Are you shocked by this news? Do you think Cotterill should’ve been sacked? Was the teams performance good enough? Who do you want to replace him? Let us know in the comments below!
