According to the Walsall Advertiser, Dean Holden has left his role as Assistant Manager at Walsall to take up an assistant job at Bristol City.
Lee Johnson knows Dean Holden from their playing days and they also worked together at Oldham so he has invited his former colleague to join him at Bristol City.
Walsall boss Jon Whitney is reportedly disappointed to lose Holden’s services as his assistant but recognises that it is an exciting career move for Holden and that the opportunity to work in the Championship doesn’t come around every day.
Dean Holden formerly played football for the likes of Bolton, Oldham, Shrewsbury and Rochdale and joined Dean Smith at Walsall as a player back in 2012.
He spent 2 years with the Saddlers before hanging up his boots on his playing career and re-joining Oldham, this time as a coach.
He became caretaker manager at Oldham briefly when Lee Johnson left to join Barnsley.
