Bristol City extended their unbeaten run to eight matches in an eventful 3-3 draw with fellow play-off chasers Preston at Deepdale on Saturday afternoon.

Taylor Moore, Andreas Weimann and Nathan Baker were all on target for the Robins as they sealed a point which means they are now unbeaten since their 3-1 defeat to Leeds United on the opening day of the season.

Manager Lee Johnson made two changes to his Bristol City side ahead of the match with one of these seeing Antoine Semenyo lead the Robins' line instead of Famara Diedhiou who has struggled to nail down a place in the side so far this campaign.

The 26-year-old has started just three league matches for the Ashton Gate outfit this term after netting 13 times for the club last season as they narrowly missed out on a Championship play-off spot.

The goals have not been flowing for Diedhiou so far this campaign, although he has still managed to find the net twice including during the Robins' 2-1 league victory over struggling Stoke earlier in September.

Diedhiou can regularly be relied upon to deliver a solid performance in this Bristol City side, as he possesses a tireless work rate and provides his side with a strong presence up front even though he may not always manage to score.

He was unsurprisingly introduced during the second half at Deepdale in place of Semenyo who had initially replaced him in the starting line-up, and the Robins scored their third goal of the match minutes after Diedhiou's introduction with Baker getting on the score sheet.

After being dropped from the starting line-up in recent weeks, Diedhiou must now be wondering what he needs to do in order to establish himself in Johnson's side and it seems the only solution is to start adding more goals to his current game.

He did manage to find the net at Deepdale following his introduction, but it was chalked off for an earlier foul and Diedhiou can consider himself unlucky to have not scored his second goal in three matches.

However, the striker has found the net 14 times and then 13 times during his last two seasons at the club, so he is clearly capable of finding the target consistently. He now must take advantage of any further opportunities to continue this goalscoring record into the current campaign in order to assert his presence in Johnson's plans.

Diedhiou has recently been called up to the Senegal squad for their upcoming match against Brazil, so this could be a great chance for the former Angers man to re-discover his confidence in front of goal which would bolster his overall game.
