Bristol City goalkeeper Daniel Bentley is on the radar of AFC Bournemouth as the Cherries continue to prepare for life in the Premier League.

Scott Parker’s side have just secured the service of Marcus Tavernier, whilst Ryan Fredericks and Joe Rothwell are other additions on the South Coast this summer.

As per the Daily Mail, Parker now has his sights set on Bentley at Bristol City in a bid to bring in some competition for Mark Travers.

Bentley has entered the final year of his deal at Bristol City and Bournemouth are looking to tempt the Robins into a sale given the 29-year-old can move on in 12 months for no fee.

Quiz: Can you remember the score the last time Bristol City played at these 26 stadiums?

Bristol City first swooped to sign Bentley from Brentford during the summer of 2019.

The goalkeeper has gone on to make 125 appearances in the Championship during his time at Ashton Gate. As of yet, he’s not played in the Premier League.

Nigel Pearson has Bentley in goal on Saturday afternoon as Bristol City surrendered the lead against Hull City, losing 2-1 on the opening day of the season after Jean Seri’s late winner.

The Verdict

Bentley has been a good goalkeeper at Championship level for a good few years now, without every really threatening to take that step into the Premier League.

You can see by the modest business that Bournemouth are doing where Bentley would fit in, with the 29-year-old a player to push Travers.

He’s a very getable target, too, given he’s not played in the Premier League before and the fact he’s got just a year left on his deal.
