Bristol City striker Freddie Hinds is reportedly joining League Two side Colchester United on loan.
The 20-year-old is a product of the Luton Town academy and made the switch to Ashton Gate in January 2017.
He impressed early on in his City career, scoring twice in two appearances during their Carabao Cup run in 2017, but has since struggled to kick on.
Hinds made 14 appearances for League Two side Cheltenham Town last season, scoring just once, and has also spent time on loan at Bath City and Wrexham.
It appears he will get another chance at first-team football this season as, according to the Bristol Post, he is joining Colchester on loan.
The Essex club picked up their first league win of the season on Saturday, beating Northampton Town 1-0.
The victory helped them climb to 17th in League Two, with five points from five games.
The forward is set to be the third player to move between the two clubs this summer after both Rene Gilmartin and Sammie Szmodics left Colchester to join the Robins.
Hinds still has two years left on his current deal at Ashton Gate.
This looks like a smart move for all parties involved.
Things haven’t quite gone to plan for Hinds since he showed some early promise for City in the Carabao Cup but he is still young and some regular first-team football could help him turn things around.
He looks extremely unlikely to feature for Lee Johnson’s side this season so a move away to help his development makes perfect sense.
Colchester have struggled for goals this season, scoring just five in their opening five league games, and appear to have not yet found a replacement for the production of Szmodics, who scored 14 goals for the club last season.
Adding Hinds should provide them will some well-needed extra firepower upfront.
