Pedro Pereira has stated that Bristol City have the ability to return to winning ways when they take on Charlton this Wednesday night.

The 21-year-old is on loan at the club from Benfica and is playing in England for the first time. He's already made six Championship appearances and will want to improve on that as the season goes on.

The Robins were thrashed at Luton Town on Saturday, and that has the potential to be a major blow in terms of their confidence heading into a big fixture with Charlton in the week, with Pereira likely to play following Jack Hunt's injury.

Pereira has expressed that the Robins are ready to bounce back and that their winning mentality will push them on to victory.

Speaking to Bristol City's official club website, Pereira said: “The unbeaten run has come to an end but I think everyone is looking forward to come to play at AG to return to winning ways, to start the game as soon as possible to be back winning.

“I think nobody has lost their identity and it’s a very positive group. Everyone has a winning mentality and that will push us on to win again.

“Charlton is a good team, they are making good results recently and I think it will be a good game, doing our thing, putting our ideas on the game and doing our things to win the game.”

The Verdict

It's set to be an interesting game when Bristol City take on Charlton in the week, the Addicks are flying and will be full of confidence heading into this one.

Pereira speaks well, and seems very knowledgeable about the English game, but it's interesting how he talks about a winning mentality, something Lee Johnson has often alluded to.

It's vital that if the Robins are to challenge for promotion and meet their ambitions that they're able to bounce back from defeats like the one at Kenilworth Road and show that they have the credentials to fight at the top end of the league.
