Bristol City have sanctioned the exit of young defender Tom Harrison, who has moved out to the National League South and linked up with Chippenham Town.

Harrison is a regular at centre-back for Bristol City's under-23s and has enjoyed loan spells away from Ashton Gate in the past.

He's spent time with Hereford, Weston-super-Mare and Gloucester City, but now makes the move to Chippenham.

It's noted by Bristol City that the centre-back's loan is an initial month, which will see him move to the National League South side until the end of December.

Given his move out of the EFL, he could make his debut tomorrow when Chippenham take on Concord Rangers.

In terms of Bristol City, they are in action in the Championship at 3pm tomorrow in a mouth-watering clash.

Dean Holden's side have worked their way into third place in the table, but face a tough trip tomorrow afternoon when they head to the Madejski Stadium to take on Reading FC.

The Royals were the early-season leaders in the Championship, but four defeats in their last five fixtures has seen them slip to sixth in the table.

The Verdict

This looks to be a decent move for Harrison.

He's not getting a chance in the first-team at the minute for the Robins and senior football elsewhere is going to be more beneficial to the centre-back than more under-23 minutes.

It's worth remembering the serious injury Harrison overcame and how this fresh loan opportunity could benefit him long-term.

Chippenham might be in the National League South, but getting senior minutes under his belt will help build his strength of mind.
