Bristol City are set to bolster their ranks before the January transfer window opens with the signing of young Bermuda talent Osagi Bascome, The Bristol Post reports.

The forward has impressed when on-trial with the Championship outfit in recent weeks and is expected to put pen to paper before the end of the year, which could give City a timely boost in their bid for promotion.

After some impressive performances for the club's U23 side, Bristol's U23 boss Jamie McAllister confirmed the club's intentions to secure Bascome to a permanent deal.

"We are talking to him at the moment to see if we can get something organised, because he has been very good for us. We've been talking to his agent and we're looking to do something. It's a case of watch this space."

"He's been a little bright spark for us and I've been happy with him, both in training and in the games. He definitely has something to offer. I've seen enough of him to know that his quality is very good and he is neat and tidy in a lot of what he does."

Bristol City have already held talks with the player's agent and are set to hand the talented teenager an initial 18-month deal that will last until the end of next season- giving Bascome a fair chance of establishing him within the first-team.

Well adversed to the English game, Bascome is a product of Aston Villa's youth academy and previously had a trial with Premier League outfit Stoke City, but it seems Bristol City will be the ones to benefit from his ability.

The well-travelled forward spent a short spell in Spain last year with second-tier side Levante, following time with Valencia, and his aim will now be to establish himself in Bristol City's first-team before the end of the season.

With the club sat five points behind the top-six, Bascome could provide the sort of boost in attack to bolster the club's promotion bid but he'll need to dethrone the likes of on-loan Chelsea forward Tammy Abraham if he is to secure regular football.

However, Abraham is the only Bristol player to hit double figures so far this season and second-placed Lee Tomlin in the rankings has just five goals to his name- which could provide the path to the first-team that Bascome is seeking.
