Bristol City suffered a confidence crisis towards the back end of last season which ultimately extinguished any hopes they had of reaching the end of season play-offs in the Sky Bet Championship.

A brilliant start to the season saw the club hit lofty heights in the league table, whilst they also reached the semi-finals of the Carabao Cup, beating Manchester United along the way, before going out to eventual winners after a two-leg defeat.

One thing that their ardent supporters really want to see at Ashton Gate this summer is a couple of stellar recruits come through the door to bolster the squad. Marley Watkins has already arrived from Norwich City but some of sections of the club’s support are demanding to see bigger names arrive.

One man who tick all the boxes when it comes to being a big name would be no-nonsense central defender Robert Huth, who was recently released by ex-Premier League champions Leicester City.

Although the strong German is 33-years-old his experience could prove pivotal as the Robins look to add more experience to a relatively young squad.

Current central defender Aden Flint continues to be linked with a move away from Ashton Gate so the arrival of Huth at the club would represent a big boost ahead of any eventuality which involves Flint’s departure.

Not too many Premier League winners will be available on a free transfer this summer, and with interest likely to be high in Huth, boss Lee Johnson would be wise to act fast on this one.
