Bristol City midfielder Bobby Reid has told Bristol City's official website that he has set his sights on a starting place for next season.

Reid is eyeing a starting spot

The midfielder, returning to Ashton Gate after a successful loan spell at League Two Plymouth Argyle, scored in the Robins' pre-season friendly on Sunday against Brislington and Keynsham and believes he is now ready to stake a claim for a place in the first team.

The 22-year-old made 34 appearances for the Pilgrims last season and established himself as a key part of the Plymouth Argyle midfield, becoming a fans favourite at Home Park, and Reid revealed his loan in the West Country certainly assisted in his development as a player gaining ''a lot of experience and game know how.''

Now the youngster believes the time is right for him to break into Steve Cotterill's side for the forthcoming season. He said: ''I’m just trying to come back and stake a claim in the team. I want to be playing like everyone else does and that’s what I’m going to try and achieve this season.''

His teammate Joe Bryan, who had a fantastic season in the last campaign, collecting numerous accolades, is a player that Reid would like to copy in his progress into the first team set up, ''I’m happy for Joe. If I can emulate what he’s done then, why not?''

Bristol City return to the Sky Bet Championship full of optimism after their perfect previous season - Reid will certainly be hoping he can become a frequent part of it.
