The Championship club, who won the League One title last year haven’t done as well as Robins fans will have hoped as they currently sit 18th in the table.

The newly promoted side fans were hugely disappointed when just two permanent signings arrived at Ashton Gate in the summer, although one of them was successful striker Jonathan Kodjia.

The club used the January and the loan window much more effectively bringing in players who have pretty much been responsible for the Robins staying up.

Players such as AFC Bournemouth loanee Lee Tomlin and Peter Odemwingie have added some real flair to the team and have been looking dangerous going forward.

However, if something is not done about their deals then the club will be left where they were at the start of the season.

Johnson has spoke about the importance of recruiting early in the months of May and June in order to get a squad together ready for pre-season so that they have time to gel.

The Bristol boss said to the Bristol Post, “It’s going to be a huge summer, a massive summer, to do all the work we need to do. It is vital we get our recruitment right and bring in Championship-quality players to supplement and improve upon what we already have.”
