Bristol City goalkeeper Daniel Bentley has said it’s ‘business as usual’ as he faces former club Brentford in the Championship tonight.

Brentford will be hoping to build in their weekend victory at Barnsley when they host Bristol tonight. The Bees go into the game in 15th after what’s been a mixed start to the season, though Thomas Frank will be hoping his side can take Saturday’s 3-1 win into tonight.

They welcome a Bristol side who are unbeaten on the road in the Championship this season, and Lee Johnson's side head into this one just two points outside the play-offs in 8th.

For Bristol’s Daniel Bentley, it’s a return to a former club. The 26-year-old shot-stopper spent three seasons at Brentford before joining Bristol for an undisclosed fee in the summer, and today spoke to the official club website on returning to Griffin Park.

“It’s obviously a little bit more romantic but for me, in terms of my mentality going into the game. But it’s business as usual and that might sound cliché, that might sound something I feel I have to say. I don’t – that’s just how it is for me.

“I’ve got a lot of friends at Brentford, there are good people there but the most important thing and my sole focus is helping Bristol City achieve what we want to achieve. That’s why I’m here, that’s what I want to do.”

Bentley will hope to keep his third clean sheet of the season at Brentford tonight but faces the threat of Ollie Watkins, who’s hat-trick against Barnsley took him to seven for the season making the Championship’s joint highest-scorer.

The verdict

Bentley clearly has a lot of respect for Brentford, but that won’t bother him in tonight’s fixture. He’ll have his hands full in keeping Watkins at bay, but given Bristol’s away record they should come away from Griffin Park with something.
