Republic of Ireland travel to Wales tonight for a crucial World Cup qualifier.

The Irish know that victory will put them in the play-offs for Russia 2018, whilst any other result will end their World Cup dream.

For Wales, the stakes are equally high, as even though a draw will keep them second it might not be enough for them to reach the play-offs.

Given that, it should be a memorable occasion in Cardiff tonight and Bristol City's Callum O'Dowda has delivered a passionate social media message, cheering on his teammates.

The winger played in the 2-0 success over Moldova on Friday night but is likely to be back on the bench for the game tonight with Robbie Brady and James McClean back from suspension.

However, he will still be hoping to come off and make an impact, although he probably won't mind as long as Ireland emerge victorious.

Martin O'Neill was dealt a huge blow with the news that Shane Long would miss the match, but Wales are having to cope without Gareth Bale.

The Verdict

It should be a tense night for all involved tonight. Playing in a World Cup would be O'Dowda's and most of his teammates greatest achievement, so there's a lot on the line.

Wales will start as favourites because they have home advantage, but it should be very close to call.

When the two sides met in Dublin, the game finished goalless, although that's a result that wouldn't suit either side tonight.
