Bristol City striker Milan Djuric is in talks over a return to Italy, according to The Bristol Post.

Serie B side US Salernitana have launched a €700,000 bid for Djuric and are confident of landing their man.

The 6ft 7in centre-forward joins the Robins in January 2017 and has since played 31 times, scoring five goals, in an injury-blighted spell at Ashton Gate.

Although Bristol City splashed £1.6m to land the 14-cap Bosnia and Herzegovina international a year-and-a-half ago, they are ready to cut their losses given his age and injury concerns.

The 28-year-old is said to be happy to return to Italy, where he has played for the entirety of his senior career prior to his Bristol City switch.

Salernitana are confident of snapping up Djuric on a permanent deal after engaging in discussions with Bristol City over this possible move.

The Verdict

While Djuric poses a decent back-up option and a different dimension when fit, his injury record is concerning.

This is a decent fee for someone who has not been able to prove his fitness while with the club.

Although they will be taking a loss, Bristol City could cash in now as he sits behind Matty Taylor and Famara Diedhiou anyway in the pecking order.
