Bristol City have announced on their official website that Joe Low has been recalled from his loan spell with Eastleigh with immediate effect.

The teenager signed his first professional contract with the Robins over the summer and was duly shipped out to the South Coast club in order to give him the regular game time he needs to continue along his development pathway.

Low went on to make eight appearances for the National League side and will now return to Ashton Gate and await further information over how he will be involved moving forwards.

A talented centre back, Low has already been part of the Wales under-19s set up and is seen as a player who ahs a great future in the game after rising through the ranks at Bristol City.

His current contract with the Robins expires in the summer of 2024.

The Verdict

Low being recalled could suggest that the Robins are looking to use him as a back up option in their defence, particularly as they have encountered a few issues with injuries lately.

The 19-year-old could well find himself thrust into action in the near future, especially as the games start to pile up around this time of year.

Making full use of their squad over the coming months between now and January will certainly make all the difference for Bristol City moving forwards.

Once they have the squad back into the kind of state that they prefer, it would be fair to assume that Low may well be loaned out again in order to give him the game time that he craves.

As keeping him at the club but not playing him could put the youngster in a negative mindset, certainly after getting some decent levels of exposure to men's football during his recent stint with Eastleigh.
