Bristol City are confident that winger Callum O'Dowda will be the next senior player to sign a new deal with the club, according to reports from Bristol Post.

The Republic of Ireland international has made over 80 appearances for the Robins, following his arrival from Oxford United in 2016.

And reports claim that the 23-year old is close to signing a new deal with the club, after being an ever-present for Lee Johnson's men this term.

The winger would join Marlon Pack, Lloyd Kelly, Josh Brownhill and Zak Vyner in signing new long-term deals at Ashton Gate, and the 12-cap international is also highly admired by Ireland boss Martin O'Neil.

Johnson's men sit 13th in the Championship standings, after a dismal run of form - they are winless in five league games.

The Verdict

This is great news for City should a new deal materialise, O'Dowda is a very effective player on his day and is a real asset for Johnson's men going forward.

It would also prove to be some good work behind the scenes after the club were pretty much forced into selling star players Joe Bryan and Bobby Reid in the summer with the pair only having a year left on their contracts and not wishing to renew.
