According to TEAMtalk, Bristol City are looking to hand Bobby Reid a new contract, with the in-form striker attracting interest from the Sky Bet Championship and Premier League, as he continues to impress for Lee Johnson’s side.

Reid has just 12 months remaining on his current contract at Ashton Gate, and although Bristol City have the option to extend that by a further year, they are desperate to agree fresh terms, with the 24-year-old attracting interest from Championship rivals, Middlesbrough, as well as a handful of top-flight clubs.

Leicester City, Brighton and Hove Albion and Burnley are all reportedly interested in making a January move for Reid, who has scored 10 goals from 19 appearances across all competitions for the Robins this season, which has helped Johnson’s side surprise many and challenge the Championship’s top-six and progress to the last eight of the Carabao Cup.

The 24-year-old’s goals have led Bristol City to fourth in the Championship table, with the Robins entering November’s international break just three points behind Sheffield United, who occupy the second automatic promotion place, and five behind current leaders, Wolverhampton Wanderers.

Johnson’s side beat Cardiff City 2-1 on Saturday lunchtime to stretch their impressive run of form, with Callum O’Dowda and Aden Flint scoring the Robins’ goals.

The Verdict

This is extremely worrying news for Bristol City and their supporters, and everybody at Ashton Gate now faces an anxious wait to see if Reid commits his future to the Robins.

It is no surprise to hear that Premier League clubs are monitoring his situation, after Reid enjoyed a magnificent start to the season.

Bristol City seem well placed for a play-off push, but losing the striker in January could seriously derail that.
