Bristol City are keen on Brentford's Daniel Bentley as Lee Johnson searches for a new keeper this summer.

A mixture of injuries and a lack of form meant that the Robins used four stoppers throughout last season as they just missed out on the play-offs in what was a real problem position for the club.

Therefore, bringing in a new number one is a target in the window and it appears that 25-year-old Bentley is the man that Bristol City want to bring to Ashton Gate.

That's after Sun reporter Alan Nixon confirmed the Robins interest with a tweet this evening and suggested it could trigger other transfers in the league.

"Bristol City. Interest in keeper Bentley at Brentford heating up. Might get a few other things rolling."

Whether the Bees would be willing to sell Bentley remains to be seen, with the former Southend man their number one for last season, playing 33 times until a shoulder injury picked up against Middlesbrough in March ended his campaign early.

The Verdict

It seems pretty clear that Bristol City need a new keeper and Bentley would fit the bill and appears to be the perfect signing for them.

At 25, he has his best years in front of him so could be the number one for the Robins in the years to come.

More importantly, he is ready to make an impact immediately as he has proven himself at this level with the Bees.

The Londoners have shown they will cash in on their players if a suitable offer is made, so it's down to the Robins to firm up this interest with a proper bid if they want to land the keeper.
