Bristol City and Celtic are locked in a transfer battle as they chase Motherwell's David Turnbull according to the Daily Record.

Both teams were believed to have made enquiries as to how much it would cost to secure the youngster's signature ahead of a potential summer move.

Motherwell have stuck a £3m price tag on Turnbull, and it's set to be an interesting few weeks as speculation about his future continues.

The 19-year-old has been in impressive form this season, and netted 16 goals last season, as Motherwell finished 8th in the Scottish Premiership.

He was their standout player in the league, and evidently has a bright future ahead of him, which has led to a number of sides registering their interest in his services.

Turnbull has two years remaining on his current contract, and the Steelmen are seemingly doing everything they can to keep hold of him for as long as possible.

A move to Celtic will surely be tempting for the youngster, as they are playing in Europe next season, although a move to challenge himself in England with Bristol City shouldn't be ruled out at this stage.

Lee Johnson is looking to build his squad ahead of next season, with Mo Eisa recently departing the club in favour of a move to League One side, Peterborough United.

The Verdict:

He's destined for bigger and better things.

Turnbull is far too good for Motherwell, and a move to either Bristol City or Celtic would certainly be a step up for the youngster in the near future.

It would be interesting to see if he would start at either club, but he'll be planning his next move carefully as it could make or break his career.
