Bristol City have £5 million offer rejected for Wolves striker

Bristol City have had a £5 million offer rejected for Wolverhampton Wanderers striker Joe Mason, according to journalist Pete O’Rourke on Twitter.

Wolves have already had a busy deadline day, but have decided to reject an offer for their centre forward, despite having a fairly sizeable squad after a flurry of late activity.

Mason joined in a £3.5 million deal from Cardiff City last January following a number of approaches from Kenny Jackett over the course of a couple of years.

Bristol City are in the money at the moment, having sold Jonathan Kodjia to Aston Villa over the Bank Holiday weekend in a £15 million deal, and are eager to get in a replacement before the window closes at 11pm tonight.

A sizeable £5 million offer has been rejected by Walter Zenga’s side, but it’s yet to be seen as to whether they’ll move for other targets, or make another offer for Mason.

Wolves broke their transfer record today after bringing Ivan Caveleiro from AS Monaco for £7 million.
