Bristol City forward looking set to depart Ashton Gate in January

Published

Sky Bet Championship side Bristol City are putting plans in place to allow Diego De Girolamo to leave temporarily in January, with a number of League One sides showing an interest, according to the Bristol Post.

Following a summer move from Sheffield United to Bristol City, De Girolamo has impressed when featuring for Bristol City’s Under 23 development side.

However, Lee Johnson believes that De Girolamo could benefit further from a short-term loan move from January until the end of the season.

The opportunity to play regular first team football at a relatively high level will further progress De Girolamo’s development and help enhance his reputation further.

Although a number of Sky Bet League One sides are showing an interest in taking De Girolamo on loan including his former side Sheffield United, Fleetwood Town are currently in the driving seat to secure the loan move.

As Fleetwood Town’s director Gretar Steinsson has already met with De Girolamo and the Bristol City management team, it is looking increasingly like that the move will happen and Uwe Rosler will have the talented forward to use in Fleetwood Town’s play-off push.

Bristol City fans, what do you make of the news? Have you been impressed by De Girolamo when he has featured? Does he have a bright future at Bristol City?
