Josh Brownhill has been a Bristol City regular since arriving in the summer of 2016 following his release from Preston North End, however the central midfielder is now at the heart of fresh transfer talk.

Having put in some consistent performances for the Robins this season, the 23-year-old has alerted his Premier League suitors that he may be worth taking a chance on.

However, the fresh transfer speculation surrounding the City captain will only worry Bristol City fans, as they fear the worst over losing their star performer and the one player in their squad who is able to link the midfield to the attack.

Brownhill is a key player for the Robins and with 18 months left on his contract, Bristol City fans will be desperate to see the midfielder pen a new deal in BS3, so that he extends his stay with the club.

The midfielder is bound to be desperate of getting Bristol City up to the Premier League this season after settling in well over the past three years, however, City's chances of gaining promotion from the Championship will likely be through the play-offs route instead of gaining automatic promotion.

City supporters dream of seeing their club in the Premier League as the club develops both on and off the pitch, however, they know that failure to go up this season will likely result in the loss of one of their best assets in Brownhill.

The central midfielder is likely to hold off any transfer move when January comes round, much to the relief of Bristol City fans, however, it could only increase interest in him come the summer if his individual performances get better but the Robins fall away from the play-off spots.

Brownhill is a fan favourite at Bristol City and all of their supporters would be sad to see the 23-year-old go as interest in him continues to gather pace, however, the central midfielder remaining at Ashton Gate all seems to hinge on whether they gain promotion or not this season.

City supporters will be dreaming of the top flight as the season continues to go on, but they all know that failure could now come at a price.
