However, The Guardian has reported, the board of Bristol City's supporters club and trust will not be attending as a result of Sheffield Wednesday charging £39 for an adult ticket - they described the prices as ''astronomical''.

Bristol City have been allocated 1068 tickets for the curtain raiser but despite the protest from the Supporters club it doesn't mean all fans will boycott.

The supporters group are trying to lead by example and make a stand against very high ticket prices. A statement from the Bristol City Supporters Trust said: ''For some it just isn't a choice, on top of travel and everything else an away day holds, it is just too expensive''. They hope it will send out a clear message in the process ''Maybe in that way Sheffield Wednesday will get the message that this is unreasonable''.

The prices were increased by the club after the club's recent takeover in which Sheffield Wednesday's new owner has targeted Premier League football by 2017.

The increased prices will give the owner more money for investment into the club, a move that has split the Sheffield Wednesday fans into agreeing with the changes made.

Charging £39 for an adult ticket to a Championship game is nothing short of ludicrous, and is something that needs to be changed in the modern game.

Football League fans...... What do you make of these prices? Sheffield Wednesday fans, what are your views on the situation? Can you blame Bristol City fans if they weren't to travel? Let us know in the comments below!
