Bristol City eyeing up swoop for impressive Championship defender with Flint potentially on the move

Championship promotion chasers Bristol City could be set to make a move for Ipswich Townd defender Adam Webster, according to journalist Alan Nixon.

The 23-year-old Webster has been turning in some impressive displays for the Tractor Boys this term, and Robins manager Lee Johnson is keeping an eye on the defender as the future of his own star centre half Aden Flint remains unstable.

City are expecting to try and fend off a host of big bids for Flint over the coming days as the window draws to a close, and manager Johnson clearly sees Webster as the ideal man to replace Flint should they finally succumb and accept a big money bid.

Webster, who has been a regular for Ipswich since making the move from Portsmouth, would be a suitable replacement for Flint given his size and age, and would soften the blow somewhat to the Robins losing arguably the most sought after centre back in the second tier.

Bristol got back to winning ways yesterday as they continued their push for promotion with a 2-0 win over QPR.

Bristol City fans, what do you make of this? Good replacement? Let us know in the comments!
