According to local media outlet The Bristol Post, Bristol City have pulled out of the race to sign Marcus Bettinelli.

Bristol City have ended their interest in the Fulham goalkeeper and will now seek alternative targets to fill that position.

Goalkeeper is one of a number of areas that Lee Johnson is looking to bolster this summer for the Robins.

Johnson wants another goalkeeper to come in and compete with Frank Fielding for the first team spot.

Last season, Fabian Giefer was with the club on loan for the second half of the season but he returned to Germany after his temporary deal expired.

Bristol City have three other goalkeepers on their books.

Young 'keeper Jojo Wollacott is expected to head out on loan to non-league side Bath City soon.

Max O'Leary and Ivan Lucic will be hoping to make an impression in pre-season and convince Lee Johnson that they are capable of competing for the starting spot at Bristol City.

However, Lee Johnson is likely to assess other targets still.

Their potential move for Marcus Bettinelli is now off, though, as he is expected to put pen to paper on a new deal with Fulham.

The former England under-21 international replaced David Button as the first choice goalkeeper at Craven Cottage last summer.

After being linked with Chelsea and Bristol City, the 25-year-old is now expected to commit his future to the Cottagers.
