According to TEAMtalk, Bristol City will consider making a move for Peterborough's Marcus Maddison if they lose captain Josh Brownhill during the upcoming transfer window.

The creative midfielder has managed to score nine goals in League One so far this season, and this current vein of form has seen the 26-year-old get back to his best after a somewhat slow campaign in the previous year.

TEAMtalk have stated that this move would only be considered if Brownhill was going to leave in January. The midfielder has been linked with a number of Premier League sides, and has the quality to be able to step up to the top division.

The Robins will be hoping their captain doesn't leave, but it is good to see that Lee Johnson and his staff have already lined up potential replacements if Brownhill was to depart.

It's yet to see what price could tie Maddison away from Peterborough, but we may well just find out when we head into January.

The Verdict

Maddison has been one of the most highly-rated players in League One for a couple of years now and Peterborough have done very well to keep hold of him up until now.

There always seems to be transfer speculation around the midfielder, and now that he's having a successful season it is no surprise to see him linked with the Championship once more.

Replacing Brownhill would be hard, and this wouldn't necessarily fill the void in terms of the defensive work that the midfielder does so well for the Robins.
