Bristol City have enjoyed an excellent start to the season, with the high-flying Robins just six points away from an automatic promotion spot following the opening nineteen games of the campaign.

Lee Johnson’s men have defied all expectations, and will remain hopeful that they can continue their fine form for the duration of the season, to ensure they experience their first taste of Premier League football next year.

However, the Robins have been rocked by multiple injury blows in recent weeks, with The Bristol Post confirming influential midfielder Callum O’Dowda to be the latest man resigned to the sidelines for an extended spell.

The Irish international picked up the knock during Saturday’s win over Hull City, and after manager Lee Johnson suggested the injury to be nothing substantial, scans have revealed unexpected damage to O’Dowda’s ankle.

The player is now expected to be out for around three months.

The Verdict

What a massive blow this is for the Robins.

O’Dowda has been sensational this season, with his form earning him multiple international call-ups and high-acclaim in the division.

The player has been one of the best players on the pitch on a consistent basis for Johnson’s side, and fans will be extremely disappointed to hear of his lay-off.

With injuries mounting at Ashton Gate, City may struggle to build upon their impressive start to the season.
