League One side Bristol City are considering a move for Yeovil Town defender Luke Ayling, reports the Western Gazette.
Ayling, who is out of contract at Yeovil and is yet to sign a new deal, has been linked with a number of Championship clubs but it is rumoured that Robins boss Steve Cotterill is keeping tabs on the defender.
The Western Gazette understands there has been no official contract between the two clubs but City have scouted the former Arsenal youth player on several occasions in recent months.
Cotterill is understood to be away on holiday and won’t be back for at least a week so nothing is likely to happen in the immediate future.
Yeovil boss Gary Johnson is desperate to keep Ayling but the Londoner is attracting interest from Ipswich Town and Brentford.
The defender is under the age of 24 so the Huish Park side will be entitled to compensation should he leave the club.
Ayling was a member of the Arsenal double-winning youth team in 2009/10 and came through the ranks at the Emirates alongside Jack Wilshere.
The defender joined the Gloves on a permanent basis in 2010 following a short loan spell.
