According to the Mirror’s live transfer blog (23/01, 11:07), Bristol City are considering a loan move for Lois Diony, with Lee Johnson keeping a watchful eye on the St Etienne striker at a late stage of the transfer window.
The Ligue 1 outfit only moved to sign Diony during the summer transfer window, but the striker has struggled to make an impact for the French outfit, who find themselves struggling towards the foot of the table.
Diony has failed to register a goal in his 16 Ligue 1 appearances this season, but did bag 11 goals across the 2016/17 campaign for Dijon, which prompted his move to St Etienne.
St Etienne are keen to move the 25-year-old on this month, with Johnson viewing the striker as a potential target for Bristol City, who are looking to bolster their squad ahead of a promotion push during the second-half of the season.
Johnson’s side currently sit fifth in the Championship table, but have failed to pick up a victory in their last four fixtures, which has resulted in the Robins losing ground on the top-two.
The Robins turn their attention away from the promotion race this evening, when the host Manchester City in the second-leg of their Carabao Cup semi-final.
Johnson, as expected, will want to bolster his squad this month, with Bristol City well in the hunt for the play-offs in the Championship.
The Robins have been good going forward this season, but there is no doubt another striker would be welcomed at Ashton Gate.
Diony has struggled for form this season, but his goalscoring record last season was extremely good, and if he can rediscover that form, he could be a good addition.
