Bristol City take on Leeds United this weekend in what should be a cracking encounter. The hosts are unbeaten in ten games, although they were held against Burton Albion last Friday. Meanwhile, the visitors are looking to stop a run of three successive defeats.
Despite that, there’s nothing much between the teams this season, with the Robins sitting in fourth position and Leeds in sixth, which makes the game more appealing. As usual, Leeds will be roared on by a big away following, with 3,700 fans making the journey down south. Bristol City will also be backed by a vociferous home support and Lee Johnson is expecting a lively atmosphere.
“Leeds have sold out the Atyeo and it will feel like a bit of a cup final. I’m sure our fans will be vocal again!” he told the media ahead of the game. Bristol City are one of four teams in the Championship who are unbeaten at home this season and the passionate crowd will expect the team to keep that run going. For Thomas Christiansen, he will be demanding big improvements. The Whites have lost their last three away games after a blistering start on the road.
What an atmosphere there should be at Ashton Gate on Saturday. When an away side brings a big following it always adds to the occasion and when you look at the importance of this fixture, it really will be electric. However, Johnson and Christiansen will be stressing the importance of keeping cool heads as it’s all about the three points. Both sides also have a point to prove after suffering disappointing results last time out.
