Bristol City manager Lee Johnson says he is expecting interest in top scorer Jonathan Kodjia this summer after a strong first season in the Championship, reports the Bristol Post.

The 26-year-old joined Bristol City from French side Angers over the summer for a fee believed to be around the £2.1 million, after failing to sign targets Andre Gray and Dwight Gayle, who both rejected moves after big money bids.

He has scored 15 goals so far in the second tier, the latest coming in the 6-0 thrashing of Bolton Wanderers, and will hope to get over the 20 goal mark before the end of the season as his side tries to crawl to safety.

But manager Johnson expects interest in Kodjia no matter what, with only four players having scored more Championship goals than him this year.

He told the Bristol Post: 'I'm sure he will be attracting all sorts of interest because of his goals and the way he plays.

'Of course, we want to keep our best players, but you never know. If he can get up to 17 or 18 goals then, at his age, there could be all sorts interested in him.'

The Robins are close to securing their Championship status and have a six point advantage over 22nd placed MK Dons, although they may be a little off-put by Rotherham United's surge up the table.

Bristol City sit 19th in the table, and travel to promotion-chasing Hull City at the weekend.
