Bristol City boss Lee Johnson has told the Bristol Post that he is “One hundred percent focused on Bristol City” adding that “What is happening here is so exciting”.
This will be music to the ears of the Bristol City faithful as reports in recent days have been linking Johnson to the vacant managerial position over at Villa Park.
Bristol City and Johnson have had a terrific start to this season and currently find themselves sitting in 5th place in the Sky Bet Championship table after picking up six wins from the opening eleven league games.
When Johnson took over the reigns at Bristol City in February the club were languishing in 22nd place so it is clear to see why Villa have been attracted to his managerial credentials.
Johnson said: “I’m not going to comment on other things, I just wanted people to know how I feel. I’m fiercely ambitious, don’t get me wrong, but my ambition is being channeled into Bristol City. This is my place.”
Other managerial candidates that have been named include Steve Bruce and current Burnley boss Sean Dyche.
With Dyche currently enjoying life with Burnley in the top flight that leaves former Birmingham boss as the clear favourite to take over the reigns at Villa Park.
Bruce has been without a club since leaving Hull earlier on this season after a dispute with the clubs owners.
What do you think Bristol fans, how happy are you with this news? And what about you Villa fans out there…who is the right man to take the club forward? Let us know your thoughts!
