Bristol City have announced that midfielder Marlon Pack has signed a new deal at Ashton Gate.

According to Bristol Live, the 27-year-old has put pen to paper on a new three-year contract, which is great news for Lee Johnson and the club.

The Robins have already lost key duo Bobby Reid and Aden Flint so far in this window, with Joe Bryan also attracting top-flight interest.

Yet, Pack will stay and the midfield man made 43 appearances in all competitions for Lee Johnson’s side last season, playing an integral part in Bristol City’s 11th place finish in the Championship, and in their impressive League Cup run.

The former Cheltenham Town and Portsmouth player had one year left on his contract, but is now on the books at Ashton Gate for a further three seasons.

Bristol City face a tough challenge against Nottingham Forest on the opening day of this seasons Championship campaign.

The Verdict

Marlon Pack would have been a real loss for Bristol City, especially after the window so far, so securing him on a new deal is just as good as new signing.

Bristol City had a good chance of a play-off push last season, but fell away at the end of the season when it mattered, and are likely to struggle this season.

But, with the positive reaction to the news of Pack’s new contract, perhaps the Robins fans will be going into the new season slightly more positive as they may have done before.
