The loss of fan favourite Bobby Reid hit Bristol City fans hard, but there is still reason for optimism at Ashton Gate, particularly after the Robins have signed Hakeeb Adelakun.

Losing Bobby Reid, after he was in fantastic form for the Ashton Gate outfit, was certainly a big loss for the Robins. However, collecting £10m for the transfer, it looks like Lee Johnson is investing in his squad with some exciting new talent.

The most recent of which is Hakeeb Adelakun.

The former Scunthorpe United man has joined the Red half of Bristol, after his contract with the Iron expired.

Johnson believes Adelakun can replicate the success of Albert Adomah and Yannick Bolasie, who have had careers which have followed a path similar to Hakeeb's.

The club also claim they had to fight off competition for his signature from several Premier League and Championship clubs.

Johnson has already strengthened his side with Marley Watkins from Norwich City, and Adam Webster from Ipswich Town, for a fee which could rise to £8m.

Both of these signings signalled intent to really push on next season, after an exciting season last time out for the club which saw them have cup runs in both the League Cup and FA Cup.

With players like Marley Watkins, Hakeeb Adelakun and Callum O'Dowda at their disposal, there is still plenty of creativity in the Bristol City squad despite Reid's exit.

If Milan Duric can find his shooting boots, Bristol City have a very exciting team going into next season.

Lee Johnson has a very solid defence, particularly with the arrival of Adam Webster, and plenty of creativity in midfield.

They are perhaps only an out and out goalscorer away from being a force to be reckoned with in the coming season.
