Bristol City have announced that both Aden Flint and Joe Bryan will serve suspensions following last night’s defeat to Preston North End in the Sky Bet Championship.

Taking to the club’s official website, the Robins have confirmed that Flint will serve three-match ban following his red card, whilst Bryan will be missing for two fixtures following his 10th caution of the season.

Flint reacted angrily to an off-the-ball incident involving Greg Cunningham, which led to the influential defender receiving a straight red card late in the game.

The 28-year-old will miss fixtures against Burton Albion, Ipswich Town and Barnsley.

Like Flint, Bryan will miss the clashes with Burton and Ipswich, but will be back available to Lee Johnson when his side face Barnsley.

The duo have been influential in helping Bristol City into top-six contention, but last night’s defeat at Deepdale proved to be a costly one.

Alan Browne put Preston into a first-half lead, before Famara Diedhiou equalised for the Robins. However, Bristol’s joy didn’t last long, with Sean Maguire putting the Lilywhites back ahead just moments later.

Flint received his red card in stoppage time, with the defeat leaving Bristol in seventh and a point adrift of the top-six.

The Verdict

Bristol City are still well in contention for the Championship’s play-offs, although the suspensions picked up by Flint and Bryan could prove to be costly.

Flint and Bryan have been key to Johnson’s side this season, making a huge impact at Ashton Gate.

How the Robins manage without the duo will define their season, but they really need to pick up some victories over the coming weeks.
