Benik Afobe has been working his way back to match fitness with some social distance training.

The Bristol City striker who's on-loan from Stoke City hasn't played since September.

He started the season in fine form for his temporary club, scoring three goals in five Championship appearances, and looking as though he could be the man to fire Bristol City to a top-six finish before suffering an untimely ACL injury in training.

Without Afobe, Bristol City have remained in contention, but his goals have certainly been missed - Lee Johnson was linked with any and every striker in January, as he became desperate for a goal-scorer.

Whilst at first it seemed that Afobe wouldn't feature for Bristol City again, the delayed season means that Robins fans may yet see him in action for the club again.

The 27-year-old posted this training video on his Instagram:

Afobe has endured a fairly unsettled career. He's long had the ability and many teams have given him the chance, though he's not properly established himself at any given club.

Bristol City could likely become his permanent home. Little has been said about the possibility of a permanent move by either club, but if he can return before the season is out and continue his earlier form, then Johnson will surely look to make it happen.

The verdict

It was a truly unfortunate injury that Afobe suffered, and just as he was looking set to have potentially his best season as a footballer. Bristol City seems like a good match for the Congolese, but where his future currently lies is anyone's guess.
