Leeds United are celebrating their birthday today, with the Elland Road side turning 99.
As part of the celebrations, former player Luciano Becchio has offered his congratulations to the club he served proudly for five years. Becchio made 221 senior appearances for Leeds, bagging 86 goals in a successful spell before leaving for Norwich.
The Whites are just shy of a century in existence now and the good wishes from one of their heroes of recent years has brought the fans to Twitter to heap praise on him. Despite having left the club five years ago he is still held in high regard at Elland Road, as the messages from fans prove.
He might not have played top flight football for them, but his deadly displays and constant commitment to the cause ensured he remains a firm favourite in Leeds.
One has even claimed that he’s his second favourite Argentinian, but that he used to be the first until one of his countrymen revolutionised the side and finally gave them hope of a top flight return.
Here’s the best of their responses from twitter.
