Sheffield Wednesday failed to capitalise on the Boxing Day win at Nottingham Forest, by falling to a comfortable defeat at Brentford.

Lasse Vibe opened the scoring after twenty minutes with a well-taken strike, before Dutch winger Florian Jozefzoon wrapped up the three points for Dean Smith’s side with a curled effort into the top corner.

The result saw the Owls fall to sixteenth-place in the league, a massive eleven points from the playoff places.

The hosts however move to within four of sixth-place Sheffield United, but face a tough trip to league leaders Molineux in the opening game of 2018.

Caretaker boss Lee Bullen may have taken charge of his last game, with chairman Dejphon Chansiri keen to appoint a new permanent appointment as soon as possible.

Defeat condemned the Hillsborough side to their ninth loss of the season, and fans took to Twitter to vent their frustration at yet another defeat…
