Newcastle United sent a scout to watch Luton Town’s clash with Fulham last weekend, and whilst the objective was not to watch one particular player, it appears that notes were made about Elijah Adebayo, as per a report from the Chronicle Live.
The 23-year-old joined the Hatters from League Two club Walsall last January, with Adebayo enjoying an excellent rise from England’s fourth-tier, to playing a starring role in Luton’s push for the play-offs.
Adebayo has netted 10 times in the league this season, with eight of those coming at Kenilworth Road, after scoring five during the second part of last season.
Quiz: Have Luton Town signed a player from each of these 20 clubs in the last 5 seasons?
Possessing all the physical attributes to cause problems in the Championship, Adebayo also has the technical ability to run riot in the final third, and is deadly when presented with opportunities to score.
Whilst Newcastle’s scouting mission was seemingly centred around watching several players, Adebayo would have caught the eye particularly, and not just because of his equalising goal.
He linked the play up well against the league leaders, whilst winning the majority of aerial battles against a Fulham backline that has been impressive so far this season.
Here, we take a look at how Luton fans have reacted on Twitter to this latest news concerning Adebayo…
Bring a hefty cheque then…..

If we end up in an auction situation then good for us.
I actually think Newcastle as a club would be the wrong move for him they’re going to be ‘unstable’ for a few seasons yet.
But a Villa, Leicester, West Ham type club may suit him.

Not sure if we would be 'happy' with 20m, it would numb the pain a little lol

I'd drive him to Newcastle for 20m 🤣

'one hell of a chequebook', Nathan said… Unfortunately these days Newcastle definitely qualify on that score.
