Brighton have revealed on Twitter that a five-year-old Leeds United fan sent them a letter in an attempt to buy defender Ben White for the Yorkshire club, which has drawn an interesting reaction from many fans of the Whites.

The 22-year-old arrived at Elland Road on a season-long loan in the summer and has been phenomenal for Marcelo Bielsa's side.

White was given the difficult task of replacing Pontus Jansson and, despite having no previous league experience above the fourth tier, has excelled – starting every Championship game this season.

The central defender's performances have been key to helping the Whites concede the fewest goals in the Championship and climb to the top of the league table with nine games remaining.

He is set to return to his parent club in the summer but many Leeds fans will be hoping he becomes a permanent member of Bielsa's squad instead.

Five-year-old Daniel Auton is one of those and sent a letter to Brighton asking if he could buy White for the Elland Road outfit using the money from his piggy bank.

The Premier League club tweeted the letter and their response yesterday, which has been well-received by Whites supporters.
