Sammy Ameobi has put pen to paper on a new one-year deal at Nottingham Forest, according to BBCRNS on Twitter.

The towering winger has been a key player for Forest under Sabri Lamouchi this season, playing an influential role in the Reds' bid for a top-six finish under the Frenchman.

The 28-year-old joined Forest on a free transfer from Bolton Wanderers in the summer, becoming the club's first summer signing under Martin O'Neill.

Can you name these 13 hidden ex-Forest players?

But despite a change in management, Ameobi has still been a hugely important player for Forest, with the winger scoring three goals and chipping in with eight assists for 36 league appearances this term.

Ameobi is among a host of high-profile, senior players out of contract at the end of the season, with Ben Watson and Michael Dawson all entering the final months of their deals at Forest.

BBCRNS have revealed, though, that Ameobi has extended his stay at the City Ground by another year, extending it until the end of the 2020/21 campaign.

There has been no official confirmation from the club just yet, but this would undoubtedly be a positive move for Forest after a fine individual season for Ameobi.
