‘Brilliant to see’ – Plenty of Derby fans react to Liam Rosenior’s message as Rams progress in the cup

Derby County ran out winners in their Carabao Cup clash against Scunthorpe United last night, and specialist first-team coach Liam Rosenior is pleased with all aspects of the evening.

Philip Cocu fielded a new-look Rams side with Curtis Davies making a long-awaited return from injury, youngsters Jason Knight and Max Bird featured, whilst Lee Buchanan debuted and scored the winning goal.

Rosenior remarked on the young players and the role senior players like Richard Keogh have in making them feel comfortable in the squad, declaring that it was ‘great to see’.

The Rams have had success with players coming through the academy in recent years, most notably Mason Bennett and Jayden Bogle, and it is an area of huge importance for chairman Mel Morris.

In fact, one of the main reason’s Cocu got the job was due to his track record of working with young players, and he has already shown he can do that Derby, with the two debutant defenders helping to keep a clean sheet.

Rosenior joined the club in the summer and his Championship experience is already proving valuable to Philip Cocu, who remains undefeated as Rams boss, with only goal – a penalty – conceded in his three games in charge.

The former defender wasn’t the only one pleased by the harmony shown between the young and senior players in the squad last night either, with some fans responding in a similar manner.
