Birmingham City have announced earlier today that their stadium is to change its name for next season in the Championship.
The Blues are looking for a much brighter 2018/19 after a couple of seasons where they have only just stayed in the division by the skin of their teeth.
Under Garry Monk, though, optimism began to grow and now fans will want to see some new signings come in during this summer window.
Whilst we wait to see what happens there, though, the owners have moved to help negate FFP by renaming the ground St. Andrew’s Trillion Trophy Stadium.
Most fans will still call it the old name, whilst more money comes into the club and so, perhaps unsurprisingly, fans are happy with this:
???? STATEMENT: St. Andrew’s and Wast Hills naming rights

Can't read the statement as the site's crashed. But if it's still called St. Andrew's and is a way to get more cash off the owners, then so be it.

Trillion trophy? Only seen us win one????
— JamesWilkes (@James__BCFC) June 14, 2018
At least it’s only a three year deal – will keep us financially stable in the short-term and steer us away from FFP. #KRO

No one is actually going to use the Trillion Trophy part & will probably only be on for a few years at the most. If they dropped the St Andrews part could understand people moaning but they have got around FFP in a clever way.

Any fans moaning clearly haven’t read the whole statement. Seen the new name then clicked off.

Im happy with that. Better income and it’s still St. Andrews ????????

I'm happy with that if it helps us beat FFP its still St.Andrews and I think TTA know that and won't care if we dont use the TTA part of the name
— BeatusBluey ???? (@Bluey_Bcfc) June 14, 2018
Can’t complain at all. More money for the club, keeping St. Andrews at the start means no one will call it ‘the TTA stadium’ and its only a 3 year deal. Not like they’ve tried a full on Sports Direct Arena job on us ????????♂️

The fans are certainly happy with this and you can understand why.
They get a bit more money whilst name isn’t impacted at all in reality so this seems a good move.
