Leeds United sent out a real statement of intent at the weekend as they thrashed relegation-threatened Hull City 4-0 at the KCOM Stadium.

A brace from Tyler Roberts and goals from Luke Ayling and Pablo Hernandez proved to be enough for Marcelo Bielsa's side as they maintained their eight-point lead over third-placed Fulham in the Championship table.

One player that certainly put in an impressive performance against Grant McCann's side on the day was Jack Harrison, who hardly put a foot wrong against the Tigers.

Speaking in an interview with MOT Leeds News, former Whites goalkeeper Paul Robinson issued high-praise for Harrison after his recently display against Hull, and though that the winger was the best player on the pitch.

"I thought Jack Harrison was brilliant on Saturday. I thought he was man of the match by a long way. I don’t know how Sky managed to give it to Klich.

"Jack Harrison was the best player on the pitch by a mile. The only thing he didn’t do was score but he hit every piece of metal on the pitch I think.

"He caused Hull so many problems, his effort, his enthusiasm, he had the whole of the flank to patrol in the second half, his defending capabilities were in evidence."

Robinson felt as though Harrison is now 'twice the player he was last season', and the on-loan Manchester City winger will be hoping that he can continue to impress as the season progresses towards the final stage of the campaign.

"He just keeps on getting better and better. I think he’s twice the player that he was last season.

"Coming back this season he’s improved no end and he has been one of the most impressive performers for Leeds this season by far."

Harrison and his Leeds United team-mates return to action this weekend when they take on Huddersfield Town in a game they'll be expected to pick up three points from.

The Verdict:

I have to agree with Robinson here.

Harrison has certainly improved going forward, as I remember having doubts as to whether he was good enough to play regularly for Leeds towards the end of last year's league campaign.

But he's shown real promise recently, and he looks as though he could be a key player for Marcelo Bielsa's side as they target a long-awaited promotion back into the top-flight.

Harrison is somewhat of the 'unsung hero' in the Leeds squad, as he often doesn't get the credit he deserves for such impressive performances this term for the Whites.
