‘Brilliant’, ‘Excellent’ – These Sunderland fans react to display from 28-y/o in important win

Sunderland made it three wins from four as they secured a narrow victory over AFC Wimbledon at the Stadium of Light yesterday.

Whilst Lee Johnson’s side weren’t at their best, with the visitors having chances of their own, a deflected shot from Carl Winchester was enough to ensure the Black Cats picked up the points.

Even though the winning goal had an element of luck to it, it capped off what was a fine display from the 28-year-old, who had been playing in an unfamiliar right-back role, as he has done this season with the side short in that position.

He was aggressive in the way he defended and constantly looked to get forward to give the hosts another option in the final third.

And, it’s fair to say that his display was fully appreciated by the support, who were delighted with the way Winchester performed in the victory.
